Big Storm Coming

Captain’s Log   6,119

The show is over.  The symphony is put away for now.  Another year with a success in the pocket.

I am TIRED!  But in a good way.  At least I think it’s a good way.  I did four miles INSIDE the Convention Center yesterday.  That is a lot of walking around.

El Nino arrived for real this morning.  We are due to have rain for an entire week.  That can be disastrous here since the ground does not soak up water that well.  Heavy rains turn into flash floods that do incredible damage.  The high surf is also very dangerous.  That’s what contributes to beach erosion, etc.

So we are in for a good smack.  Glad I had my roof repaired a few years ago.  This one is going to get nasty.

I live about 4 miles (as the crow flies) from the beach.  That’s where most of the big nasty stuff is going to happen.  Time to batten the hatches.  Wish I could take the day off and snuggle in with books and magazines.  But alas…..

This is one of my favorite places to go for root beer and French fries.

  1. Yep, we’ve been forwarned to expect back to back storms for the foreseeable future. The officials described it as “like a conveyor belt” bringing them in one after another. It will theoretically help ease the drought conditions but in reality we’ll probably see localized flooding, too. Glad I don’t have to drive through it at o’dark thirty in the morning any more.

  2. We’re supposed to get hit too … Keep warm and try to keep dry!

So far, so good. As long as there are breaks between storm cells we’ll all be OK.

My son is in San Diego now! If it’s going to rain that much, I’m sure he’ll be cutting his trip short. Be safe!

  5. Hope you don’t have any damage. Don’t float away unless it is with Johnny Depp!

  6. Looks like it’s gonna be a Root Beer float.
