Joining the Guild

Captain’s Log   5,998

Taking a big step.  Registering as a member of the Writer’s Guild of America.  This is getting serious.

New Logo-working file

No more farting around.  There is a new play to be written.  Serious one this time.  Serious people interested in supporting this.   Need to get legal now and protect the intellectual property.

Nothing is “just” an anything! Good Luck, God Speed, and Gemutlichkeit!

  2. Great news……I hope this leads to even bigger and better experiences for you.

    This is exciting!

  4. Congratulations Poolie. It’s long overdue and well deserved 🙂

Amen to all the above, or will it be below when I click post! Yea for you.

  6. Our producers all voted to join the WGA a few years ago. It seems to have been a positive step for them. I hope this leads to that Tony you’ve been Jonesing for. Are you going to be getting an agent, or is this one of those things a playwright can bypass?

Will most likely need an agent. Know anybody?

      • Unfortunately, I don’t. As a member of SAG/AFTRA, we have resources available to help us to find agents, but only for acting/announcing. I’m not sure what WGA provides its members, but you’ll probably be attached to a local shop, right? I imagine this is a common enough concern that they’ll be able to guide you with more authority than I could from here just hazarding guesses.

In the meantime, a while back I pointed Poundheadhere (my secret crush) to “Book Country”, a site run by Penguin Books for aspiring writers. I punched in “Agent” to their search engine and got back this list of pages: http://www.bookcountry.com/search/default.aspx?q=agent&st=All . Some may be forum discussions, but I bet at least some are dedicated articles. Might be something to thumb through while you’re waiting for your new shop steward to return your page 🙂

Proud of you here, btw. Don’t know if I mentioned that yet 🙂

This is BIG news! And GOOD news! You GO, Paula!

  8. It’s just a guild. The main thing is copyrighting all your work.

Thanks for letting me know about Harriette. One day she was there and miserable, the next day she was gone. Can her daughter get her computer to her? I hear my friend Seedy’s is home, but the pancreatic cancer had wrapped itself around her aorta. We just flat out need to have a early all purpose test for all cancers.

More importantly, can I please have Mia’s address. Not only does the store want to send her a thank you note, I want to send her a receipt for all her bags of books. 🙂
