Captain’s Log 5,906
I saw this with Big Sister Mia in March of 2002. It’s the Trinity Church fence near where the World Trader Center towers fell. It was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Lest we forget

Check out the two videos I posted yesterday.
Least we forget we are not isolated over here from the evil doings abroad.
Thanks for letting us all remember the sacrifice of so many.
When the Buddha was asked what the worst curse one could hurl at another, he supposed answered “May you live in interesting times”.
We live in interesting times.
We most certainly do, my friend.
Last September we visited the memorial at Shanksville, PA. Such brave, courageous people. We were there 2 days after the commemoration of 9-11 and I was feeling so emotional that I stood in front of the panel of photos of the Shanksville victims and cried like a baby. What a day 9/11 was here for those of us who live in the shadow of the towers.
That must have been really difficult.
Let us not become complacent. It’s the playground of the devil.
Or worse. We create our own hell.
Wounds do heal, but they always leave scars.
I’ve been told that builds character.
I was far from home on that terrible day. I am still grateful to the Canadian people who were so helpful and kind as we struggled to communicate with loved ones and get home. I was also struck by the quiet patience of the other thousands of stranded travelers. No noise, no anger, no impatience; just the common desire and determination to forbear.
We can come together. Unfortunately, it takes things like this to make people decent sometimes.
Our lives go on. But we never forget.
You are so right.
Just, Thank you.
Welcome, my friend.
We’ll NEVER forget. I still feel as if I had been personally violated.
That was such a sad scene.
Nobody said a word. We just wandered.
