The Fires Rage On

Captain’s Log   5,837

Hold San Diego in your thoughts, please.  Fire again.  More than one this time.

Home destroyed by fire in Carlsbad – about 30 miles north of the city

With temperatures in the 100’s again today and high winds……nobody knows what to expect.  I am not in any danger where I live, but many of my friends are on watch to evacuate.

What’s that again about global warming?  And how it isn’t a real threat?  What’s that again?

I hope you’re still safe – and was going to recommend a small window AC. Use it and hole up in your bedroom with a laptop or your iPhone. You don’t need it all year around, I know, but for the days it’s warranted, it is worth every penny.

  2. We are off to SDSU this afternoon, and temperatures are expected to be over 100. I can’t breathe, she says panting, but the arena is air conditioned.

Fire is one of the harsh reminders that we are small and humble passengers on Mother Earth ‘s back. I hope the fires are quenched quickly, so scary

  4. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you. And hoping the winds die down.

  5. Eldest daughter isn’t being very functional in the heat today. I told her I’d pay her electric bill and to use her AC. She didn’t hear me yesterday, nor today. The heat is making all of us do strange things. A very frightening time.

Stay safe Paula and Barb! And don’t get this dyed in the wool liberal started on climate change! I’ve tried to behave myself these last several months since I seem to get my more conservative family members and friends all riled up when I start mouthing off about everything!

  7. Climate change is real; we all know it, even if we close our eyes. (Posibly more if we do!) I have seen patients who were warned by their doctor; rather than changing their habits, they shop for a different doctor. And so the big corporations just look for a different scientist to explain what we all see. (I think there was an episode of “Cosmos” about that.)

    Be safe.
