We Open TOMORROW! Eeek!

Captain’s Log   5,700

We now have TWO cases of pink eye associated with this show!  YAY!  One in the cast and one in the crew.  Amazing.

Rehearsal last night went quite well in spite of the fact that the lighting board didn’t work.  A replacement board was sent over and we started about 20 minutes late with no programmed cues.  All in all……..

Mr. Forgetzlynz forgot his lines, but they are getting better at covering.  It’s called steamrolling.  They now realize they have an entire show to save, not just him.  I have simply given up on him.  Best thing I can do.

We are adding a riding crop to the ensemble of the Russian forensics specialist.  When she came out last night in boots, tight jeans, and a black tank top, it was clear that she also needs a little whip to make her character even spicier.  She will be a kitten with a whip.

Everybody is over-the-top hilarious!   They are starting to have fun with the show, and that makes all the difference.  It’s my job to keep them pumped up.  They have bonded as a cast and that’s important too.  They are starting to watch out for each other on that stage.  It’s all about the ensemble, not stars.  Thank goodness.

I have a short day today and I am taking tomorrow off to spend the morning with Joanie, Hairdresser Exceptionale.  I also will use that time to write out my thank you notes to the cast and crew, etc.  Opening night takes a lot of energy and I want to be ready.

Dear friend, Terri, lost her husband yesterday to pancreatic cancer.  I met them both in Tombstone several years ago and we became fast friends.  He was a wonderful man with a huge heart.  He will be missed.  I feel for Terri and hope she finds her way through the labyrinth of loss and grief.  It’s a different journey for everyone, and I bless her as she walks this path.

Stay loving with those who matter in your life.   Accept the gifts they share with you and make the most of your time together.   We are only here for such a short time.  Make a difference.

  1. By now the first night is over and you know you had a hit.
Thanks for the sweet mention of my loss…..and thanks to all who have commented and sent their good thoughts. It’s strange….our son, Daniel, and I feel like he is on a trip…..riding a horse out in the West into the sunset.

  2. By now you’re in the middle of your production and unquestionably it’s a big hit. I’d say break a leg – but already know your work. It’s a slam dunk.

I was heartbroken to hear of Terri’s loss and to know she had such a short time. The only sweet part is that so many loving souls stepped forward both before and after Dean’s passing.

  3. Today, today, hurrah! Break a leg.

My deepest sympathies to Terri. May she have the strength to carry on.
See you in the morning for your hair…. and TOMORROW NIGHT for the show!

I was thinking the same thoughts as you this morning…friends, short lives, one never knows. I do know you are packing in the love and friendships and creativity. What an example you are…and…I’ll see you opening night with Pam. I can’t wait to laugh at all the crazy hijinks. Sounds like a, who done it comedy? I love that genera.. Did I spell that right?

  6. So glad you are pulling it all together. We will come together and celebrate your brilliance. Yes, send note and wishes to Terri.

Almost here. I am sure you are very excited.

Take a bit of time for yourself tomorrow, too!

  9. I have been hearing about Terri’s husband from friends. We are not FB friends, but have commented on each other’s writing for some time. It is so very sad.

Deepest sympathy to Terri and the family.

So sorry to hear that Terri’s husband has passed over the rainbow bridge. You spoke of so much “life” when you talked about them both. Hugs to your friend.

Glad the show has reached the turning point. It will be a blast I am sure!
