Things did not go as expected yesterday. Not even close. I was gobsmacked. There were pale faces, apologies choked with emotion, and a plea for a second chance. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
So…….my “career” will continue for a bit. I have no idea how long. I hold a spiritual belief that everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance. I granted that yesterday. I felt like a queen granting a royal pardon.
Or a pelican releasing a fish after a near catch.
Have I made an error in judgement? Possibly yes, possibly no. Like any relationship, the waters need to be tested every now and then so see if they are still flowing or if they have become stagnant.
I was not expecting this outcome. So, for now, things continue. But with new eyes and a new sense of understanding of how hurtful certain things can be.
The sails of the HMS Pie Rat continue to blow in the wind!

Indeed they do. Fair winds!
Actually this may be a good thing. Now they know that you are not afraid of them and that you have options. If they are smart; they will do what they can to keep you there. If they just “forget” about it in a few weeks….you can walk away knowing you gave them another chance. I once returned to a job that I had quit within 90 days after I left. The manager actually groveled to get me to return and the Division Manager made me some promises that they did keep which includes restoring all my senority and vacation time….and I got promoted soon after..
There are definite choices now. Feels good.
I’m glad someone at least had the presence of mind to recognize how important you are. Here’s hoping that recognition sticks beyond the day.
I have no expectations.
Exactly what Patty said. Good for you My Friend 🙂
Thank you, Miss Jett!
You conveyed your independence and your reasons for wanting to change. Now it’s up to the others to try to comply — or at least compromise. Let’s see what they do. Good luck.
It’s definitely a learning curve.
It’s a good thing. It will happen for good when the time is precisely right. This keeps them on their toes for sure! Can’t wait to see you next week.
We will have so much fun!
Let’s see if they can change things. You still have options.
I love options.
Definitely a surprise – sounds like to all concerned. But at least you let them know that there are indeed other avenues out there. And that you are well prepared to take them. Good girl!
Most definitely!
As long as you feel comfortable with your decision. It does give you time to see if there are positive changes and believe me, when the definite time to go comes, you with KNOW IT without question. Only time will tell and in the meantime you have done the gracious thing. One way ot the other it will turn out for the best and you will have the peace of mind knowing that you gave it that precious second chance. Good for you.
Thank you for “getting” me, Patty.
